SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department says it has been granted an extension of the deadline to register for the upcoming civil-service exam for the title of firefighter.

The exam deadline has been extended to Wednesday (Dec. 13). Those who pass the exam are added to the civil-service list that the Syracuse Fire Department uses to hire recruit firefighters. Taking and passing the exam is the first step to becoming a Syracuse firefighter.
