SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Destiny USA plans to reopen Friday with changes to its safety and sanitizing policies as well as modified hours.
It also has rolled out “Healthy Shopper Guidelines” with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that people “must follow prior to entering the property.”
Destiny USA also needs to ensure that the mall is limited to “no more than 50 percent of the maximum occupancy,” per the state’s Reopening New York mall guidelines. Those guidelines also say malls must close food-court seating areas by restricting access to tables and seating in such areas.

Destiny USA will operate under modified hours of operation, including Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Some venues, including restaurants, may have different operating hours.

Safety protocols
Destiny has instituted a number of safety and sanitizing policies and procedures for its employees, tenants, and guests.
For example, the complex has also made adjustments to increase air circulation, air filtration, and fresh air intake to bolster the quality of air within the center — “all meeting New York State standards,” Destiny USA contends.
Everyone visiting Destiny USA will be required to wear a face mask before entering.
All guests will be reminded to maintain social distancing and stay six feet apart with visual reminders placed throughout the center, along with new, one-way directional signage to avoid contact with other guests.
Destiny USA has “enhanced” its cleaning and sanitizing of the common areas and numerous touch points, restrooms, seating areas, and food court. This includes using CDC-recommended disinfectants designated as effective against SARS-CoV-2 virus, in accordance with or exceeding CDC sanitation guidelines.
The Destiny USA cleaning team will be using new electrostatic sprayers, leveraging the same technology used to clean hospital rooms to sanitize its mall using an approved disinfectant recommended by the CDC.
In addition, new hand-sanitizer stations will be available at digital directories throughout the property, food-court areas, elevators and escalators, and throughout the common area.
Destiny USA also encourages visitors to take advantage of additional parking spaces at various mall entrances designated for curbside pickup from their favorite stores. The main curbside pickup location is located at the Carousel entrance.
The complex will also have daily health screenings for Destiny USA employees, security personnel, housekeeping employees, and all contractors.
