UTICA, N.Y. — The Utica Zoo is adding a new international exhibit — Dino Discovery presented by The Flemma Group at Baird — from May 24 through Oct. 19, the zoo announced.

“Dino Discovery presents the opportunity for the Utica Zoo to weave elements of our mission together; educating out visitors about the important role of conservation while having fun and creating new memories,” Executive Director Andria Heath said in an announcement. “Dinosaurs are no longer in existence. The collective work of the zoo industry is to ensure other species don’t follow suit.”

The exhibit features more than 15 animatronic dinosaurs, equipped with life-like movements, sounds, and other effects, spread throughout the zoo. In total more than 16,000 pounds of dinosaurs and landscaping will transform the zoo into an educational journey through the prehistoric past.

“The Utica Zoo is a premier attraction in Oneida County, continually finding new and exciting ways to engage visitors of all ages,” Oneida County Tourism President Sarah Foster Calero said. “This upcoming dinosaur exhibit is a game-changer. Not only is it the first of its kind in the Mohawk Valley, but it’s also expected to bring in thousands of visitors, boosting tourism and supporting our local economy. This is exactly the kind of immersive, family-friendly experience that makes Oneida County a standout destination, and we are thrilled to partner with the Utica Zoo as they continue to innovate and inspire.”

Zoo visitors can expect daily dinosaur presentations, special educational programs, and a variety of themed events throughout the summer including exclusive member events.

The zoo is also giving one local young artist the chance to customize one of the dinosaur displays. Visit www.uticazoo.org/dinodiscovery for more information and entry materials.

Dino Discovery is included with regular zoo admission.

Exhibit sponsors include The Flemma Group at Baird, Bank of Utica, First Source Federal Credit Union, Adirondack Bank, Market 32/Price Chopper, Steve Lennon & Company Jewelers, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, New York Sash, Stewart’s Foundation, and Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce.

The Utica Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, is home to approximately 200 exotic and domestic animals, and welcomes nearly 100,000 visitors annually. The zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 pm, with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
