SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Disney Store will celebrate the formal grand opening of its newly designed store at Destiny USA on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with the first 500 guests to attend the celebration receiving a free gift and an opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in the Canyon Area from noon to 4 p.m., according to a Destiny USA news release.

The Destiny USA store is one of several newly designed Disney Stores to open across North America in 2014, the release stated.

The Disney Store’s attractions include storytelling neighborhoods featuring a Disney Princess Castle, magical trees, and the Disney Store Theatre featuring the latest Disney entertainment, as well as a custom skyline with iconic Disney storytelling scenes and local landmarks, according to the release.

The Disney Store retail chain, which debuted in 1987, is owned and operated by Disney in North America, Europe, and Japan. It is the retail merchandising arm of Disney Consumer Products, the business segment of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) and its affiliates that extends the Disney brand to merchandise. The company currently has more than 200 Disney Store locations in North America.
