BUFFALO —  Dunn Tire LLC, a Buffalo–based tire retailer with five Syracuse–area stores, has appointed David Simons as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Simons will report directly to Randy Clark, president and chairman of the board at Dunn Tire, which employs about 500 people and generates annual sales exceeding $100 million. according to a company news release.

Simons joined Dunn Tire as corporate controller in 1993 and has served as its CFO since 1999, the release stated. Previously, he was a CPA with the Buffalo office of Ernst & Young for 12 years. Simons is a member of the Dunn Tire board of directors and is immediate past chairman of the Sisters Hospital Foundation board.

He has also served on the boards of American Car Care Centers and the New York Choice Self Insurance Trust. Simons has a bachelor’s of business administration degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University and an associate degree in accounting from Alfred State College.

Dunn Tire, founded in 1973, says it is a privately owned company and the 18th largest retail tire business in the U.S. with 30 retail stores and four wholesale distribution centers in upstate New York and western Pennsylvania. It has five Central New York stores in Auburn, Camillus, Clay, Mattydale, and DeWitt.

Dunn Tire is the title sponsor of the Mountain Goat Run this Sunday, May 4 in Syracuse. As of April 22, more than 2,800 people had signed up for one of the race events, including 2,400 runners in the signature 10-mile race, according to the Mountain Goat run e-newsletter.
