DeWITT — Inficon (SIX Swiss Exchange: IFCN) earned $12.1 million in the fourth quarter, or $5.50 per share, up 41 percent from a year earlier.
Sales in the period totaled $70 million, down from $76.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2010.
For the full year in 2011, Inficon generated sales of $312.1 million, up 17.6 percent from 2010. Net income rose 61.5 percent to $43.7 million.
Inficon, based in Switzerland, produces high-tech instrumentation, sensors, and process-control software. The firm’s products are used in manufacturing devices like smartphones, flat-screen TVs, and even solar cells.
The company serves the environmental protection and emergency-response markets as well. Its systems can monitor and analyze air and water, for example, and detect contaminants and dangerous substances.
The company’s largest facility is in DeWitt, where it employs 220 people. Worldwide, the firm employs 850, including 320 in the United States.
