EBS-RMSCO, Support Services Alliance merge into one company

EBS-RMSCO, Inc. and Support Services Alliance, Inc. (SSA), both subsidiaries of the Rochester–based Lifetime Healthcare Companies, Inc., have merged into one company.

The merged company, which is initially operating under the EBS-RMSCO name, began operations on Sept. 28, Lifetime Healthcare Companies said in a Monday news release.

The merger is designed to create efficiencies and broaden the range of services that the company can offer, Lifetime Healthcare Companies said.

“More and more, employers are looking for one-stop shopping for their employee benefit and risk-management needs, and this combined company will be in a position to serve current and future customers more efficiently and effectively,” Dorothy Coleman, executive vice president and CFO of Lifetime Healthcare Companies, said in the release.

As a stand-alone subsidiary, EBS-RMSCO has focused on providing employee-benefits outsourcing, the company said.

Its primary services include claim administration and risk management of self-funded medical, dental, and prescription-drug plans; debit cards for Section 125 flexible-spending accounts and Section 105 health-reimbursement accounts; Section 401(k) plan bundled services; along with actuarial services for pension plans, retiree health-care benefits, and administration of Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) health coverage, according to Lifetime Healthcare.

Established in 1974, EBS-RMSCO provides benefits services to more than 3,000 clients nationwide, the company said.

Launched as a membership organization, SSA says it provides an array of benefits and assistance to thousands of businesses and the self-employed in New York.

Its programs include group insurance for health, life, vision, and dental coverage, along with payroll and benefits-administration services.

Based in Oneida, SSA also acts as a general agency for Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Central New York’s largest health insurer and an affiliate of Lifetime Healthcare Companies.

The newly combined EBS-RMSCO will have annual revenue of about $50 million and will service more than 4,000 clients in upstate New York and across the country.

The business will maintain its offices in Salina, Fairport, Oneida, Cobleskill, and Buffalo.
