SYRACUSE — Emerging Talk, an event focused on highlighting the startup business scene in Central New York and connecting local entrepreneurs and the student community, will be held in Syracuse this Friday and Saturday.
Kevin Harrington, one of the original “sharks” on the TV show “Shark Tank,” will keynote the event. Emerging Talk will also feature “power chats” by local entrepreneurs like John Stage of Dinosaur Barbecue, Martin Babinec of Upstate Venture Connect, and Danny Goldberg, whose student startup Golden Gear was named one of this year’s “Coolest College Startups” by Inc. Magazine.
Organizers of Emerging Talk 2014 say the goal of the event is to provide local entrepreneurial students, business owners, and investors with an entrepreneurial ecosystem to help turn an idea into a venture. Each year, the event has drawn more than 250 attendees and has grown even bigger this year, according to a news release from Destiny USA, The expo will be held at Revolutions and WonderWorks at Destiny on Friday, April 11, and at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University on Saturday, April 12, when a series of business-plan competitions will be held.
