Erie Canal Museum board elects officers

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The board of trustees of the Erie Canal Museum recently named its officers for 2017, and re-elected three trustees to new three-year terms.

Steven H. Kelly, associate treasurer at Syracuse University, was elected president of the board, according to a museum news release. The board vice president is Sarah Tietje, an academic counselor with the HEOP program at Cazenovia College. The treasurer is Michael P. Goetz, CPA, a manager at Firley, Moran, Freer and Eassa, CPA, P.C. The board secretary is Blaine T. Bettinger, an associate with Bond, Schoeneck & King. And the board chair is Susan Hughes, director of the American Pomeroy Historic Genealogical Association.

Kelly, Goetz, and Ali Jackson Popp were elected to new three-year terms on the board. Jodee A. LaCelle, a VP at M&T Bank, was named trustee emeritus.

The Erie Canal Museum board is responsible for financial oversight, overall planning, resource development, and participation in and periodic review of the mission of the Erie Canal Museum, a nonprofit educational organization in Syracuse. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5. The museum is partially funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, the release stated.
