ESF wins grant for technology project

SYRACUSE — The State University of New York (SUNY) College of Environmental Science and Forestry will use a grant to launch a program to help students better understand the school’s library services.

The school received the funding through SUNY’s 2012 Innovative Instruction Technology Grants program. Students will iPod and iPad apps to learn about library services and the information available on campus.

Using the devices will allow the students to become more comfortable with technology, according to ESF.

School submitted 117 proposals for funding through the SUNY program. A total of 48 were chosen for funding at different levels. The grants will foster study and development of educational gaming tools, e-textbooks, online classes, e-portfolios for lifelong learning, and more, according to ESF.

SUNY viewed the ESF project as having the potential to be replicated throughout the SUNY system, according to the school.
