SYRACUSE — The Everson Museum of Art Board of Trustees announced it has elected new officers for the 2014-2015 term and welcomed three new board members — Phil Frankel, Gary Lavine, and Barbara Stone.
Gary Grossman, managing partner at Grossman St. Amour CPAs, takes over as president of the Everson board, following the end of Patrick Pedro’s term.
“I believe in the arts and its many benefits to our community. It can foster creativity, stimulate business activity, enhance the quality of our lives and preserve our cultural identity,” Grossman said in a news release.

Also serving as officers for the 2014-2015 Everson board term are: Vice President Clifford Malzman, president at Cannon Recreation Corp.; Vice President Eugenia Brieva, partner at QPK Design; Treasurer David Holstein, member of the law firm of Bousquet Holstein PLLC and its board of managers; and, Secretary Valerie Clarke.
”We are confident that the newly elected officers will ensure that the institution continues to meet the needs of the community through their governance,” Everson Executive Director Steven Kern said in the release. “We are also very pleased to have these three accomplished individuals join our Board of Trustees.”
Frankel is a member of the law firm Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC. His practice areas include business and corporate transactions, with an emphasis on startup companies, handling employment matters, contractual negotiations, and intellectual-property concerns.
Lavine is counsel to Bousquet Holstein on administrative law. Previously, he was senior vice president and chief legal officer of Niagara Mohawk Holdings, Inc. and senior vice president, legal and corporate relations at Niagara Mohawk Power Corp.
Stone is director of planning services at Crucible Materials Corp., a manufacturer of tool steel and alloys.
The Everson Museum of Art, which dates back to 1897, says it is internationally recognized for its collection of ceramics, art-video collection, and its distinctive structural design by the noted architect I.M. Pei.
