Excellus names Renner Southern Tier regional president

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has appointed Jessica Renner as president of its Southern Tier region.

Renner replaces Kevin McGurgan, who retired from the position on Dec. 30 after 33 years of work with the health insurer, Excellus said in a news release.

Since joining Excellus — Central New York’s largest health insurer — in 2001, Renner has held positions in provider relations, sales, and operations. Her previous title was director of provider relations, according to Renner’s LinkedIn page.

She has been “instrumental” in building relationships with providers, along with “supporting and overseeing” new business-management structures for sales and membership, Excellus said.

In her new role, Renner will combine her leadership in provider relations and sales with the “supporting and maintaining” business relationships and community engagement.

Renner earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University.
