VOLNEY, N.Y. — The Oswego County Airport will use $843,000 in federal funding to fix two taxiways and replace the taxiway lighting.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the funding to the airport in Volney, U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer (D–N.Y.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D–N.Y.) announced in a news release that Schumer’s office issued.

The FAA administers the funding, which is awarded through the airport-improvement program (AIP).

The AIP provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS).

Funds obligated for the AIP are drawn from the Airport and Airway Trust fund, which user fees, fuel taxes, and other similar revenue sources support.
