Five Star Urgent Care opens seventh location, introduces new pediatric-care services

CLAY, N.Y. — Five Star Urgent Care has opened a new office at 7375 Oswego Rd. in the town of Clay.

The new location also introduces Five Star Kids Care, a treatment facility in which pediatricians and nurse practitioners provide after-hours care, the health-care organization said in a news release issued Monday.

Five Star describes itself as an emergency room (ER) “alternative,” offering treatment for non-life threatening ailments.

“The inclusion of Five Star Urgent Care and Five Star Kids Care, together, marks the latest natural extension of our ongoing commitment to provide affordable, exceptional care and customer service to all residents in this community,” Dr. John Radford, founder and CEO of Five Star Urgent Care, said in the release.

The company contends that the new Five Star Kids Care will provide pediatric services “during hours where care is less available.”

“Many times, parents bring their children to the ER for non-emergency conditions that can be treated in office with a pediatrician,” said Radford. “The mission behind Five Star Kids Care is to provide patients with an affordable option to receive exceptional pediatric care at a time when pediatrician offices are typically closed.”
