FSLH formally opens Outpatient Infusion Unit

UTICA — Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) recently formally opened the newly renovated Outpatient Infusion Unit in its Regional Cancer Center.

The FSLH Foundation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the Outpatient Infusion Unit on Nov. 24.

The project included the following elements, according to an FSLH news release:

• Warm, soothing colors and soft lighting

• A nutrition room that offers patients and their family members healthy foods while receiving their treatments

• Adding options for patients with varying needs for privacy

• Art work to create relaxing atmosphere

The redesign of the Outpatient Infusion Unit focused on “healing design elements working to restore balance to the mind, body, and spirit,” the release stated.

Gifts from the following donors enabled FSLH to renovate the Outpatient Infusion Unit: Jane Gwise, the Brandreth Family and in honor of Marty Bull — Susan, Jason, and Erica Bull, The Bull Family Fund, and Larry and Terri Thibault. Additional funds to support the project were raised through the 2014 Stomp Out Cancer Telethon held in March, the release stated. FSLH did not disclose the total cost of the project or say how much money was raised.

“We are extremely grateful to these donors for enhancing our Cancer Center and providing this healing atmosphere to the community,” Nancy Borden, executive director of the Regional Cancer Center, said in the release. “Our patients and their families will benefit greatly for years to come because of the generosity of our donors.”

The FSLH Foundation (www.faxtonstlukes.com/foundation) raises funds throughout the year to benefit programs and services at FSLH.
