SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Pathfinder Bank has hired Shynique Gainey as assistant VP, branch manager for the bank’s new, upcoming Syracuse office, to be located at 506 W. Onondaga St.

“We are excited to have Shynique join our team,” Robert Butkowski, Pathfinder’s first VP of branch administration, said in a press release. “With her 17 years of banking experience, including her time spent serving and understanding the Syracuse market, I am confident that Shynique will have a positive impact in shaping the continued growth of our presence in Syracuse.”

As branch manager, Gainey is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the office as well as developing retail and commercial business and building relationships with the local community.

The new branch is set to open this spring after interior renovations are complete. Pathfinder said it worked with VIP Structures to renovate the historic mansion into a full-service branch to serve the Syracuse community and create economic opportunities in the south and southwest corridors of the city.

Prior to joining Pathfinder Bank, Gainey was a branch supervisor at the Erie Boulevard West location of Empower Federal Credit Union.

A graduate of Cazenovia College and Onondaga Community College, Gainey has an associate degree in humanities. The Syracuse native is a graduate of Henninger High School. She is an active member of Pathfinder Bank’s Money Smart Leadership Team and sits on the Well of Hope Church committee.

Headquartered in Oswego, Pathfinder Bank has 10 offices in Oswego and Onondaga counties. The bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pathfinder Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: PBHC).
