SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse–based Galaxy Media on Monday announced that it has promoted Carrie Wojtaszek to the newly created position of COO of the company.

Wojtaszek, who has worked for Galaxy for a decade, has served as the general manager of Galaxy Events since 2013. She will continue in that role while adding responsibility for Galaxy’s 13 radio stations, digital division, and sports-marketing organization, the company said in a Monday news release.

“It’s hard to quantify the impact that Carrie has had on Galaxy,” Ed Levine, president and CEO of Galaxy Media, said. “Carrie and Pam Levine have built Galaxy Events from nothing to a nationally known brand. I’m excited to watch the impact that she will have in all of our divisions in the coming years.”

“Galaxy Events has experienced tremendous growth and success over the past decade. I’m looking forward to expanding my role and bringing new ideas to all the divisions of Galaxy Media,” Wojtaszek said in the release.

Galaxy Media, headquartered at 235 Walton St. in Syracuse, describes itself as a privately owned, independent media group.

Wojtaszek’s appointment comes as Galaxy has completed a nearly $10 million refinancing of the company.

“Our balance sheet has never been stronger and with the buying out of our former private equity partners, Galaxy is truly poised to become the pinnacle of a locally owned modern media company,” said Levine.
