Gear Motions names new GM of Niagara Gear division

SOLVAY, N.Y. — Gear Motions, Inc., a Solvay–based gear manufacturer, has announced the promotion of Paul Andruszko to general manager of its Niagara Gear division in Buffalo.

The division has also earned an International Organization of Standardization (ISO) registration.

“The goal of our company has always been to be one of the best precision gear manufacturers. My efforts over the last 35 years have been geared toward maintaining that goal,” Robert (Bob) Barden, who has retired as vice president and general manager, said in a company news release issued Monday. “Paul Andruszko has the talent to drive the company forward. We worked together closely for 26 years, and I’m confident that he will take the company to the next level.”

Prior to his promotion to general manager, Andruszko most recently served as the division’s operations and engineering manager, according to the Gear Motions website. He joined the firm in 1988 as a manufacturing engineer.

Andruszko and Barden have been working “closely together” over the past few years to ensure the leadership transition would be “as smooth and seamless as possible,” Andruszko said in the news release.

“My vision for this company is to not only maintain but greatly improve upon the level of growth and success we have experienced in the past. Additionally, the ISO registration will help open doors to new potential customers domestic and abroad,” said Andruszko.

Gear Motions contends that the Niagara Gear ISO registration demonstrates the firm’s “commitment to delivering products that meet world-class specifications for quality, safety and efficiency,” according to its news release.

It also “ensures” that all its processes are “repeatable and predictable,” the company said.

All of the company’s divisions are now ISO-registered, according to Gear Motions.

Besides Niagara Gear, the Gear Motions group of companies also includes Nixon Gear in Geddes, and Oliver Gear and Pro-Gear in Buffalo, according to the company’s website.

Dean Burrows serves as the president and Samuel Haines is the CFO and chairman of Gear Motions, which describes itself as an “employee-owned company” in its news release.
