A Syracuse–based construction company is among three firms the Associated General Contractors of New York State (AGC NYS) selected for its 2014 Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Award.

AGC NYS chose Hueber-Breuer Construction Co., Inc. for its work on Onondaga Community College’s (OCC) Academic II, which opened in August 2013.

The organization announced the winners in a news release issued on Wednesday.

Besides Hueber-Breuer, AGC NYS also recognized Kirchhoff-Consigli Construction Management, LLC, which is headquartered in Pleasant Valley (Dutchess County), for its work on the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Museum and Library in Hyde Park.

It also honored Bette and Cring Construction Group, LLC of Latham, near Albany, for its work on the cogeneration plant at Albany Medical Center.

The program, now in its 24th year, honors “industry leading” construction projects, and recognizes “exceptional” skill, imagination, and problem solving, the release stated.

AGC NYS selects the Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Award winners based on managing skills; imagination; overcoming “challenging and unusual” circumstances; scheduling accomplishments; and project innovation.

Academic II is suspended 60-feet above the Furnace Brook gorge on the OCC campus.

A 12-member jury of industry peers reviewed and judged all project entries.

Albany–based AGC NYS describes itself as New York’s “largest statewide contractor association” providing advocacy and education for contractors and affiliated firms “helping grow the state’s economy and constructing its $30 billion annual building, transportation, civil and environmental infrastructure,” according to the news release.
