SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — Robert Kernan, Jr., chairman emeritus of Generations Bank, has joined Generations Commercial Bank as a community ambassador.

Generations Commercial Bank accepts deposits from area municipalities and publicly funded entities. The banking company launched Generations Commercial Bank last November to comply with New York requirements for municipal-banking relationships.

Kernan has held roles with “numerous” nonprofit organizations, including the United Way, Seneca County Industrial Development Agency, National Women’s Hall of Fame, and Seneca Falls Central School District, Generations said in a Tuesday news release.

He also served as the president and chairman of Seneca Falls Savings Bank, which changed its name to Generations Bank in 2012.

“Municipal banking is a new area of growth opportunity for Generations and we are excited to be a part of it. We have already made great strides in this area and with Mr. Kernan’s contribution, there is no limit to what we can do.” Menzo Case, president and CEO of Generations, said in the release.
