Awards range from $500 to $1,000. NBT Bank provided a $5,000 investment to fund the first round of grants. Townsquare Media, Hummel’s Office Plus, and Bondar Tech have joined the initiative by donating $2,000 worth of radio advertising, $500 worth of office supplies, and a business-telephone system valued at $3,500, respectively.

“I believe this is an important program that can help support area businesses and non-profit organizations,” Genesis Group President/CEO Raymond J. Durso, Jr. said in a press release. “The funding and resources being donated will be used to support those businesses and applications that meet the program criteria. I believe that the Genesis Group, along with its partners, are making a positive impact for businesses in our region.”

Applicants must submit a form and proposal for consideration. A committee will use a non-competitive review process to evaluate all eligible applications that meet the criteria. The committee will recommend qualifying applications to the Genesis Group board of trustees for final approval.

The Genesis Group of the Mohawk Valley region is a civic and community organization “dedicated to adaptive leadership to meet new challenges and to create positive and transformational impact in the Mohawk Valley region,” per its website. The Genesis Group operates at 100 Seymour Road in Utica.
