“The new Goodwill store in Cicero is boosting the local economy and empowering individuals who are facing barriers to independence. It is truly amazing what Goodwill and the power of work can do,” Hopf contended.
The store also boasts that shoppers will have the chance to purchase “gently” used clothing and other items “at up to 80 percent off mall prices,” according to the news release.
The new Goodwill store offers a covered, drive-up donation area where a staff member will assist merchandise donors at their vehicles. The employees will hand-process, size, and colorize donated clothing and household items in the store, the organization said.
Goodwill will provide donors with a receipt for their items that “may entitle” them to tax savings.
Revenue generated from the store’s sales supports programs, services, and employment opportunities for people of all ages “with barriers to independence,” according to Goodwill.
The organization operates donation centers throughout the area, including a location at 8430 Oswego Road (Route 57) in Clay.
