The group will help oversee the phased-in reopening of the economy in Central New York, including the manufacturing sector, after nearly two months of being on pause. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the group on Monday, as well as the control rooms for the state’s other regions.
Besides his role with the CNY Regional Control Room, Wolken also serves as co-chair of the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council (CNY REDC).
The CNY Regional Control Room also includes Matthew Driscoll, executive director of the New York State Thruway Authority; Ann Marie Taliercio, president of the Central New York Area Labor Federation; Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup; Cortland County Legislature Chairman Paul Heider; Cayuga County Legislature Chairwoman Aileen McNabb-Coleman; and Madison County Board of Supervisors Chairman John Becker.
The first phase of the regional reopening of the economy can begin starting May 15 in regions that meet seven criteria set forth by the state. Phase one of the reopening of non-essential businesses includes manufacturing and wholesale supply chain; construction; all retail (curbside pickup only); and agriculture, forestry, and fishing. Essential businesses that are already open will remain open.
