Greater Binghamton Chamber honors HYPE Award winners

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce celebrated this year’s young professional HYPE Award winners at a July 14 event.

The awards recognized eight young professionals who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession. An additional award honored someone who mentors young professionals. The Greater Binghamton Chamber chose finalists based on their industry leadership as well as their service to the community outside of their jobs.

The 2022 honorees are as follows.

  • Business category — Jamie Jacobs, managing partner at Riger Marketing Communications
  • Creative category — Matthew Ebbers, owner of Side Room Sounds and staff associate for video, photography, marketing, and communications at SUNY Broome Community College
  • Education and training category — Dr. Lisa Fisher, school psychologist for the Binghamton City School District
  • Health and wellness category — Bryon Palmer, head fitness trainer at Synergy Athletics
  • Nonprofit category — Nicholas Matyas, senior counselor for student support services at Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships Program at Binghamton High School
  • Service industry category — Fig McAndrews, pastry chef at Parlor City Vegan
  • Mentor to a young professional category — Kristin Saunders, system director of procurement at United Health Services Hospitals
  • Skilled-trades category — Kyle Smyder, director of estimating department at Matco Electric Corporation
  • STEM category — Matt Sheehan, director of the Center for Career and Technical Excellence at Broome-Tioga BOCES
