Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors, Oswego County Board of Realtors merge

CICERO, N.Y. — The Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors (GSAR) has merged with the Oswego County Board of Realtors (OCBR).

About 100 members of the Oswego County organization have joined the Cicero–based GSAR, according to a news release from GSAR.

GSAR filed the merger with the state on May 27, the organization said in an email response to a BJNN inquiry.

“We are very excited to welcome the members of Oswego Board into the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors,” David Hanlon, president of GSAR, said in the release. “This merger will be beneficial to both consumers and all realtor members. It allows us to create a stronger voice for home ownership, eliminate dual charges, and increase products and services to all of our Association members.”

Though the Oswego board’s official association name will no longer exist, former Oswego members will continue to have an identity within GSAR through a special committee called the “Oswego County Chapter of the GSAR.”

“The face of real estate is changing every day for both consumers and realtors [and] with this merger, we will be better able to serve the realtor members of both organizations while keeping a local chapter for Oswego County,” Connie Ryan, former president of OCBR, said in the release.

GSAR will provide its new members with all the benefits and services that have been a “staple” of OCBR “for years,” GSAR said.

The realtor association includes residential and commercial agents and brokers, appraisers, real-estate counselors, property managers, other real-estate specialists and related industry affiliates, according to the release.

GSAR says it is Central New York’s largest trade association, representing nearly 1,500 members.
