Greater Utica Chamber names Fraser as new executive director

UTICA, N.Y. — The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce board of directors has appointed Meghan Fraser as the organization’s executive director.

Fraser has been serving as the chamber’s director of membership and events, a position she took after working more than seven years in the marketing and public relations department of Utica–based F.X. Matt Brewing Company, which makes Saranac brand beer.

As the chamber’s executive director, Fraser replaces Pamela Matt, who left earlier this year to become executive director of the young scholars program at Utica College.

“We are very excited that Meghan was willing to take on this new role with the chamber. She has an established track record for being fully engaged with local businesses and in our community,” Michael Morrill, chairman of the Greater Utica Chamber’s board of directors, said in a news release announcing Fraser’s appointment. “The timing is perfect for someone with her skills and vision to help grow our chamber and benefits to our members.”

Fraser hopes to improve communication with chamber members regarding the benefits of membership, the role of the chamber in the community, and the services available to new businesses, according to the release.

Her goal is to position the chamber to maximize its positive impact on commerce and growth in the greater Utica area.

“I love Utica and all the area has to offer,” Fraser says in the release. “With the planned growth in our community, it is more important than ever for organizations such as the Chamber to play an active role in ensuring the growth is sustainable for new and existing businesses alike.”
