Reed has more than 30 years of experience in executive management at both businesses and not-for-profits. He served as president of the nonprofit Boilermaker Road Race, Inc. for the last 10 years.
William F. Perrotti, United Way board VP and search committee chair, announced that Reed will serve as interim executive director while the board continues the search for a permanent executive director.
“Tim Reed is well-respected in our community. We are grateful he is willing to bring his strong leadership skills and expertise to United Way as we make the transition to a new director,” Perrotti said in a news release.
Reed, a past United Way interim executive director, board member, campaign chair, and resource development committee member, recently stepped down as president of the Boliermaker Road Race. The Boilermaker 15K race, one of the more popular road-running races in the U.S., is held annually the second Sunday in July in Utica. Total participation exceeds 21,000 runners, including the 5K race, kid’s run, and walk. It has more than 5,000 volunteers. The organization also engages in year-round community development efforts including promoting wellness.
In a statement, Reed said, “It’s an honor to, once again, get a chance to serve with United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area. I look forward to working with the organization as it continues to support our community.”
United Way’s search committee and its chair, Perrotti, have been asked to lead the search for a permanent executive director. Interested candidates may send their résumé to christopher.preble@roberthalf.com and copy jillc@unitedwayvgu.org.
