CICERO, N.Y. — Green Planet Grocery announced it is closing its Cicero store after three years in business.

“It’s an unfortunate decision and it wasn’t [to] easy make,” Green Planet Grocery management said in a news release “Our mission from day 1 was to provide healthy and affordable food options to our local community. We’ve enjoyed 3 years of making that dream happen.”

Green Planet, which sells natural and organic food, said it has no set date for the store’s closing. It will shutter “once the inventory has been sold down. This process is expected to happen quickly,” the release stated.

The 6,000-square-foot store, located in the Lakeshore Heights Plaza at 6195 Route 31 in Cicero, started a 50-percent-off sale on many items on Saturday, Nov. 18.

The Cicero store has 5 full-time employees and about 10 part-time workers, according to a Green Planet spokesman.

Green Planet continues to operate stores in Oswego and the Fairmount section of Camillus, and still plans to open franchised stores in other undetermined locations in the future, he told BJNN.
