ROME, N.Y. — Griffiss Institute, Inc. has received a nearly $3 million grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), according to an announcement from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R–NY–24).
The grant supports the institute’s Smart-X Internet of Things (IOT) Living Lab project, which allows vendors and developers to integrate, test, experiment, and demonstrate their technology.
Tenney submitted the project request for federal funding through the fiscal year 2023 Community Project Funding process during the last session of Congress.
“This grant is a win for upstate and Central New York, bolstering our region’s high-tech innovation and manufacturing economy,” Tenney said in a news release. “Today’s announcement marks a significant milestone for our community and the countless companies that serve the technology needs of the Air Force and the broader Department of Defense. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on our region.”
