Hartwick College formally opens $7.1 million student-apartment building

ONEONTA, N.Y. — Hartwick College on Thursday formally opened a new $7.1 million student-apartment building that can house up to 72 upper-class students.

The new 31,000-square-foot facility includes two- and four-bedroom suites, gathering and programming spaces, and teaching and study rooms, the private college located in Oneonta said in a news release.

The building with the new student apartments represents the first residence hall built on the Hartwick campus since Hilltop House and Oyaron House opened in 1995, the school said. It’s also the first new standalone building since Golisano Hall opened in 2008.

Hartwick President Margaret Drugovich, along with members of the school’s board of trustees, college vice presidents, students living in the apartment community, and members of the core construction teams were scheduled to help cut the ribbon during the late-morning ceremony.

Besides the ribbon cutting, the event also included the installation of the datestone and building tours, per the release.

Hartwick College has nearly 1,400 undergraduate students and more than 180 faculty members.
