DeWITT, N.Y. — The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY) recently elected Richard MacDonald to a one-year term as vice-chair and secretary-treasurer for the 2016-17 term.

MacDonald was sworn in during a ceremony at IIABNY’s annual business meeting, held May 12 at the Thayer Hotel at West Point. Members also elected and installed new officers and regional members of the board of directors.

MacDonald is VP, director of sales at Haylor, Freyer & Coon in Salina. As IIABNY’s vice-chair and secretary-treasurer, he will chair the board in the chairman’s absence and have oversight over the DeWitt–based association’s revenue and spending. Prior to joining Haylor, Freyer & Coon in 2008, he worked in underwriting and sales roles with Kemper Insurance Companies and Liberty Mutual Group in Syracuse. MacDonald is a graduate of Clarkson University and Le Moyne College.
