JACQUELINE FLOYD has joined Magnetic Diagnostic Resources of CNY as practice administrator. She was formerly the practice administrator for Rome Medical Practice and served as assistant director of medical imaging and physician outreach at Rome Memorial Hospital. Prior to her administrative positions, she was a radiologic technologist for 35 years — 20 of which were spent as a MRI technologist in the Syracuse, Rome, and Chicago areas. Floyd holds an associate degree in radiologic technology from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Syracuse University, and an MBA from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas.

MOHAWK VALLEY HEALTH SYSTEM

SANDRA WHITTEMORE has been named nurse manager of the special care unit at the St. Luke’s campus of the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS). She is currently the nurse manager of the progressive care unit at St. Luke’s Campus, and will continue in this role in addition to managing the SCU. Whittemore has been employed by MVHS since 1993, serving as a staff nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab, Intensive Care Unit, Interventional Radiology, and Progressive Care Unit. She earned an associate degree in nursing from the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, and a bachelor’s degree from Utica College.

ROME MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Pulmonologist MOHAMMED SEEDAT, M.D. and Family Nurse Practitioner KATHERINE M. FREEMAN have joined Rome Medical Group at its Rome Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine office. Seedat has been a practicing physician at Rome Memorial Hospital since 1997. He has also been named medical director of cardiopulmonary services at Rome Memorial Hospital. As medical director, he will provide care directly or coordinate care for patients in the hospital’s cardiopulmonary department, as well as in the sleep disorders center and pulmonary rehabilitation program. Seedat earned his medical degree from Pontifica Universidad Catolica Madre Y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and completed his medical internship at Crouser-Chester Medical University in Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Seedat is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), and also holds sub certifications in pulmonary disease, sleep medicine and critical care medicine from the ABIM. He is also certified in sleep medicine through the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) and is credentialed to care for pediatric and adult patients. With 25 years’ experience in nursing, Freeman earned her master’s degree in nursing with certification as a family nurse practitioner from SUNYIT, Marcy in 2014. She has a broad base of experience in long-term care, urgent care, cardiology, and family practice. Freeman is board-certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Rome Memorial Hospital announced it has named TRAVIS SMITH as its assistant director of the plant operations department. The plant operations department is responsible for maintenance of the hospital building and 13 off-site facilities. The department handles all plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling issues; maintains the hospital’s energy center; handles remodeling and renovations; and maintains and repairs lighting and mechanical appliances. The staff also focuses on painting and maintenance of the building’s surfaces and fixtures and handles snow removal and landscaping work. The plant operations assistant director and his director also oversee the hospital’s biomedical department, which ensures medical equipment is “well-maintained, properly configured, and safely functional,” the hospital said. Smith joined the plant operations staff in 2009 as a level one mechanic. He quickly advanced to a level three mechanic while gaining knowledge about the many facets of the plant operations department. Smith had taken over overseeing the maintenance of the hospital’s energy center last year and will continue that responsibility in his new position, the release stated.

UPSTATE FAMILY HEALTH CENTER, INC.

PAULA VECCHIO, M.D., primary care physician, has joined the clinical staff at the Upstate Family Health Center, Inc. at 1001 Noyes St. Utica. She provides primary care services to patients of all ages in the community. Vecchio received her degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School and completed her residency in family medicine at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She has been a primary care provider in the Utica area for more than 30 years and previously worked in private practice, most recently at St. Elizabeth Medical Group.
