OMAR COLON, M.D.

Colon completed a four-year psychiatry residency program at Bergen Regional Medical Center in New Jersey.

He was named chief resident of the center’s outpatient clinic during his third year of residency and in his fourth year, he was named chief resident of academics.

Colon earned his medical degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo and obtained his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Strockbine will provide outpatient care to residents age 18 and older at Oswego Health’s BHS facility in Oswego.

He recently completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Upstate Medical University and fulfilled his residency in psychiatry at Stony Brook University.

Strockbine earned his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine on the island of Grenada. Strockbine also has a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular pharmacology from Stony Brook University. He also received his undergraduate degree in pharmacology from Stony Brook.

ST. JOSEPH’S PHYSICIANS

EVAN DENTES, M.D. has joined the St. Joseph’s Physicians team of surgeons. He will provide general surgical services addressing a wide variety of medical conditions.

Dentes earned his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where he completed residencies in both medicine and surgery. He has been a member of the St. Joseph’s Health medical staff since 1981.

MICHAEL FISCHI, M.D. has joined the St. Joseph’s Physicians team of cardiovascular specialists as an interventional cardiologist. In addition to coronary artery disease, he is experienced in treating peripheral arterial disease.

Fischi has been a member of the St. Joseph’s Health system medical staff since 2005. Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease & American Board of Interventional Cardiology, he completed his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, fellowship in cardiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and fellowship in coronary and peripheral intervention at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

SYRACUSE ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALISTS

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists recently hired JUSTIN A. IORIO, M.D., to its Neck & Back team. He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in the management of complicated spinal deformities, degenerative and arthritic conditions, infections, and fractures.

Iorio earned his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University, and completed an orthopedic residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He has completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, where he was accepted into the Cobb Fellowship, which focuses on the treatment of scoliosis.

UPSTATE CELEBRAL PALSY

ERIK JACOBSON, PH.D., has been promoted to the chief psychologist at Upstate Cerebral Palsy. He has worked in various capacities at the organization for the past 10 years. In his current role, Jacobson provides clinical oversight of the Upstate Cerebral Palsy New York State Center of Excellence Project, an OPWDD-funded collaborative project focusing on establishing best practices for children’s residential programs. In addition to being a licensed psychologist, he is also a certified school psychologist and provides evaluations, training, supervision, and consultation throughout Upstate Cerebral Palsy and its affiliates.

Jacobson received his doctorate degree in clinical-community psychology from the University of South Carolina. Over the past 15 years, he has provided a range of assessment, diagnostic, and treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults with varying degrees of developmental and psychiatric disabilities through outpatient, residential, and school settings.
