MOHAWK VALLEY HEALTH SYSTEM

PENNY SEYMOUR has been named talent-acquisition specialist for the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS). She is responsible for the full life cycle of talent-acquisition activities. Prior to joining MVHS, Seymour held various positions at Upstate Cerebral Palsy in Utica, including HR assistant II, benefits specialist, HR generalist and recruiter. She most recently served as the senior recruiter for UCP since August of 2017. Seymour received her associate degree in early childhood education from Herkimer County Community College.

ROME MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Medical technologist, JESSICA BURMASTER, has been appointed director of the laboratory services department at Rome Memorial Hospital. After working for Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) for 15 years, she was most recently employed as assistant laboratory supervisor at Slocum Dickson Medical Group in New Hartford. Burmaster graduated from Utica College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She received her certificate in clinical laboratory science from George Washington University. Burmaster completed her master’s degree in public health at Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida.

ST. JOSEPH’S HEALTH

MARY GEISS, D.O. has joined St. Joseph’s Health, St. Joseph’s Physicians Primary Care, in Cicero where she will provide patients with osteopathic-medicine services. She earned her doctorate of osteopathic medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Alfred University. Geiss previously worked as an attending family medicine provider at the Elbridge Family Medicine Center.

VALLEY HEALTH SERVICES

Valley Health Services has hired GABRIELLE WAISBLATT, director of social services, to its professional staff. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Utica College and is currently working on a master’s degree in social work through Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. Waisblatt has 10 years of experience in the field of social work with most of her prior experience in trauma and specifically, working with at-risk youth and families.

CARTHAGE AREA HOSPITAL

Carthage Area Hospital has hired ANDREA L. COLEfor its provider team at the Women’s Way to Wellness OB/GYN clinic as a certified nurse midwife. She graduated from Jamestown Community College with an associate degree and earned her RN designation. Cole graduated from the certified nurse midwife program at Frontier Nursing University, Hyden, Kentucky, with a master’s degree in nursing, after which she passed the American Midwifery Certification Board qualifying exam. Before completing her midwifery education, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania for four years and as a home birth midwife assistant for four years.

HCR HOME CARE

HCR Home Care has adds the following employees to its Central New York operations. ALLISON BARLETTA, RN case manager in Madison County; JOYCE KAPRAL, RN assessment nurse in Madison County; LISA WOLFE, patient services coordinator in Onondaga County; KEIRUKA NWUGWO, RN case manager in Onondaga County; and REGINA REID, patient services coordinator in Onondaga County.

MOHAWK VALLEY HEALTH SYSTEM

ANTHONY DISCHIAVI has been named director of medical imaging at the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS). He has been employed by MVHS since 2003 and has served as CT technologist and cross sectional/CT physics instructor and patient care instructor at the Faxton St. Luke’s School of Radiology in Utica. Most recently, Dischiavi held the position of assistant director and systems administrator for the medical imaging department at MVHS. He received his diploma in medical radiography from the Faxton St. Luke’s School of Medical Radiography in Utica and his associate degree from Herkimer County Community College; he earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Empire State College in Saratoga.

NASCENTIA HEALTH

Nascentia Health has announced the addition of the following individuals to its team of health-care professionals. For the Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) it hired: ANNA ANTHIS, speech language pathologist; TABITHA DENEGAL, communication center supervisor; BRUCE FIKE, care transition coach; ELISABETH FREEMAN, registered nurse; MICHAEL PARKHURST, care navigator; JENNIFER PHILLIPS, registered nurse; LEE RICH, recruitment/retention specialist; MELISSA ROGERS, licensed practical nurse; SHELLEY TRACE, registered nurse; and JENNIFER ZUBER-BOZEK, customer service center team leader.
