Healthy Workplace Awards honor area firms for wellness programs

DeWITT — Nineteen Central New York businesses and nonprofits were honored for their workplace-wellness programs as finalists at the Healthy Workplace Awards event, sponsored by UnitedHealthcare and produced by BizEventz.

The following local organizations won the top prize in five different categories at this afternoon’s luncheon held at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, near Carrier Circle.

Private Companies (2-50 employees): Gilroy, Kernan & Gilroy, Inc., an insurance agency.

Private Companies (51-99 employees): Testone, Marshall & Discenza, LLP, an accounting firm

Private Companies (100-250 employees): Hancock Estabrook, a law firm

Private Companies (More than 250 employees): Price Chopper (Golub Corp.), a grocery store chain

Nonprofits (More than 250 employees): Achieve, which serves people with developmental disabilities

The Healthy Workplace Awards honor companies that create programs that encourage healthy living among their employees in areas such as wellness, fitness and exercise, healthy eating, nutrition, stress management, and smoking cessation.
