Helio Health receives more than $3 million grant to expand services in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. — Insights of Helio Health in Utica is expanding services to the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model.

A CCBHC is designed to increase coordination of care and other treatment services for adults and children with mental illnesses and addictions. The expansion is funded by a $3.6 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

To be recognized as a CCBHC, nonprofit clinics must meet several requirements including staffing, availability and accessibility of services, care coordination, scope of services, quality and other reporting, and organizational authority, governance, and accreditation.

“This CCBHC expansion grant funding will support the work we are doing to create access to evidence-based integrated substance use and mental health care locally,” Helio Health President/CEO Jeremy Klemanski said in a release. “This will give people access to a more complete ambulatory services offering.”

The four-year grant award will go toward a list of services including crisis services, treatment planning, outpatient services, targeted case management, community-based mental-health care for veterans, among others.

Helio contends that its whole-person approach, combined with care coordination, gives Helio more opportunities to improve access to care and create better outcomes for the people it serves.
