Herkimer College narrows search for new president down to four candidates

HERKIMER, N.Y. — Herkimer College is closer to finding a new president to replace Dr. Cathleen McColgin, who retired earlier this year, according to a press release from the college.

The college’s board of trustees will host four final presidential candidates for campus visits on November 8, 9, 14, and 15. For each candidate’s visit, the day will include a campus tour, meetings with the executive cabinet, staff, faculty, supervisors, the board of trustees, and lunch with students. Each visit will also include an open community forum from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

The college expects to announce specific meeting locations, along with the candidates’ names, on Nov. 7. Following the visits, the board of trustees will make a recommendation to SUNY for Herkimer’s next president.

A presidential search committee consisting of campus, community, and SUNY representatives recommended the candidates following several interviews.

The college worked with Pauly Group, Inc. to facilitate the search process. It began the search after McColgin retired Aug. 31 after serving just over seven years as the college’s fourth president.

Herkimer County Community College offers an array of certificate programs and associate degrees.
