Herkimer College selected to host junior-college sports national championships

HERKIMER, N.Y. — Herkimer College will serve as the host for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Softball World Series and men’s basketball championships in the coming years, the two-year college announced.

“We are truly honored to be chosen once again to host the Division III Softball World Series,” Herkimer College Dean of Students/Director of Athletics Donald Dutcher said in a news release. “Our team is committed to delivering a memorable experience for student-athletes, fans, and families from across the country, ensuring a warm welcome and competitive spirit at every event.”

Herkimer College will host the NJCAA Division III Softball World Series at Carrier Park in DeWitt for the years 2025 through 2028.

The NJCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship will be held in Herkimer College’s varsity gymnasium in 2025, 2026, and 2028. An arena in Rochester, Minnesota will host the tournament in 2027.

“Herkimer College has demonstrated an outstanding ability to provide a quality experience for student-athletes and a high level of professionalism in tournament operations,” NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Chair Greg Witkop said. “We are confident that Herkimer will continue to elevate the NJCAA Basketball Championship experience.”

Herkimer College previously hosted the basketball championships in 2023 and 2024 and has organized other NJCAA events including soccer, lacrosse, and softball championships.
