PLYMOUTH, N.Y. — The superintendent of the Town of Plymouth Highway Department in Chenango County was arrested Feb. 6 and charged with allegedly using town money for his own personal use.
The New York State Police charged Rodney A. Oakley, 44, of Plymouth, with a second-degree scheme to defraud, five counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, and eight counts of petit larceny.
According to the State Police, the agency received a report at about 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, 2022 that Oakley was allegedly using town money for his own use. The preliminary investigation determined Oakley was using town invoices to gain access to these funds.
During the investigation, police determined Oakley had allegedly been using town funds to purchase car parts, tools, and materials for his own personal gain since December 2020.
Police arrested Oakley and issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Plymouth Court on Feb. 22.
