SCHUYLER, N.Y. — A Home Depot distribution center is coming to the Schuyler Business Park, according to the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency (IDA), working in partnership with Bloom Utica, LLC.

The estimated $9 million project includes the acquisition, construction, and equipping of a single-load 52,500-square-foot distribution facility with 15 dock doors, 50 automobile stalls, 34 box-truck stalls, and office space on Andrew Usky, Sr. Drive in the park.

The Herkimer County IDA offered certain incentives including real property tax abatement, sales-tax exemption, and mortgage-recording tax exemption.

Home Depot expects to start site work this fall and building construction in the spring of 2023.

“This is a great opportunity for Herkimer County and the town of Schuyler as we continue to bring economic development to our area,” Herkimer County IDA CEO John Piseck, Jr. said in a news release announcing the project.

The Home Depot project will use a pre-engineered metal building system on 11 acres. It is the third project in the park since the IDA purchased an additional 188 acres for the park. Other recent developments include projects by Pepsi and The Fountainhead Group.

Home Depot’s distribution center will serve as a “last mile” facility and will announce employment opportunities in the near future.

“We are beyond thrilled to have another business join the Schuyler Business Park,” Jim Bono, Herkimer County IDA board chair, said.
