Hueber-Breuer crews complete concrete construction on Destiny USA hotel

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Workers with Hueber-Breuer Construction Co. have completed the concrete construction on the 209-room, Embassy Suites by Hilton Syracuse – Destiny USA.

It follows 77 days of construction, including 26 concrete pours totaling 5,930 cubic yards of concrete, Destiny USA said in a news release.

Construction efforts will now shift to enclosing the hotel and then development of the interior, with an anticipated opening of fall 2017, the company said.

“We are incredibly excited to reach this milestone with the Hueber-Breuer team as we transition into the next phase of construction of our onsite Embassy Suites hotel,” Stephen J. Congel, CEO of Pyramid Management Group, LLC, said in the Destiny USA release.

“We’re thrilled with the progress of the construction of this project in our hometown,” Aaron Walter, project manager, Hueber-Breuer Construction Co., said in the release. “Thanks to the team of construction workers who finished this scope of work ahead of schedule and with a perfect safety record.”

A lending group led by M&T Bank (NYSE: MTB), which also included Berkshire Bank (NYSE: BHLB) and Tompkins Trust Company (NYSE: TMP), financed the $48 million hotel project, Destiny USA said.

The Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency (OCIDA) also has approved a tax exemption for the hotel. OCIDA forged a PILOT agreement with Destiny that reportedly could save the company up to nearly $7 million in taxes over a 12-year period.

Upon completion of construction, Plano, Texas–based Aimbridge Hospitality, the nation’s second largest independent hotel-management firm, will operate the facility.
