Hummel’s Office Plus acquires CNY Office Products in Cortland

MOHAWK  —  Office-product dealer Hummel’s Office Plus has added to its list of retail locations by purchasing CNY Office Products of Cortland.

Mohawk–based Hummel’s closed on its acquisition of CNY Office Products Dec. 1. The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal or any revenue details.

“The merging of our two long-established family businesses is truly exciting,” Hummel’s CEO Justin Hummel said in a news release. “We admire the industry expertise and enthusiasm of the CNY Office Products team and their excellent long-term relationship with their customers. We are eager to build upon each dealer’s unique heritage while focusing on common goals of supporting our customer’s needs.”

CNY Office Products will now operate as Hummel’s Office Plus. It’s slated to remain open at its location of 839 State Route 13 in Cortland.

Hummel’s plans to retain all of the acquired company’s employees. CNY Office Products founder, David Stark, is retiring. But his wife, Lynn, will stay with the company as a part-time staff member. That means the acquisition adds three full-time workers and a part-time employee to Hummel’s workforce, which was about 80 people before the deal.

In addition to the new Cortland location, Hummel’s Office Plus has retail stores in Herkimer and Rome. It also has a sales office in Syracuse. Its headquarters is an 80,000-square-foot office complex and distribution center at 25 Canal St. in Mohawk, Herkimer County.
