ENDICOTT — ICS Solutions Group, which specializes in information-technology (IT) support, announced it has hired Robert LaFave as COO.

ICS operates offices in Endicott and Syracuse, according to its website.

LaFave previously served as a sales consultant at SimplexGrinnell, according to a news release from ICS Solutions Group.

Westminster, Mass.–based SimplexGrinnell, which has an office in DeWitt, is a Tyco International company that specializes in the manufacture of fire alarms, sprinklers, and other property-protection products, according to its website.

LaFave brings more than 12 years of customer service, sales, and managerial experience in the technology field to his new position, ICS said.

In his new role, LaFave will oversee day-to-day operations and ensure companywide alignment with strategies in the technological sector.

LaFave will “provide the leadership, management and vision necessary” to ensure that ICS has the proper operational controls and procedures to meet clients’ needs, the firm said.

Calling company growth over the last five years “tremendous,” Kevin Blake, president of ICS Solutions Group, said the firm wanted a COO that it felt “aligned” with its objectives.

“We interviewed a lot of great candidates and [LaFave] truly understands what we are looking to do and the importance of the COO role as we continue to grow.  Our growth is dependent on our attention to detail and proactive approach to the [information-technology] (IT) needs of our clients. With Robert’s knowledge and skills, we are positioned to continue to effectively meet the needs of our clients as we continue to expand our footprint in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania,” Blake said in the release.

ICS Solutions Group has been providing IT services to the regional business community since 1986. With more than 60 employees deployed and focused on information technology, ICS describes itself as the “largest IT support company in the region.”
