DeWITT, N.Y. — The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York, Inc. (IIABNY) announced it has promoted Brian R. Bixby to president of IAAC, a service corporation within IIABNY.

IAAC offers insurance products for IIABNY members to sell and non-insurance products for members to use and/or market to their clients.

Bixby succeeds Lisa K. Lounsbury, who recently assumed the position of interim president and CEO of IIABNY.

Bixby will serve as chief liaison between IAAC and its volunteer board of directors; provide oversight and monitoring of all IAAC programs, products, and activities; and develop new program and product opportunities that benefit IIABNY member agencies and brokerages, the association said in a news release.

During the past six years, Bixby has served as assistant VP of IAAC and was responsible for managing the financial performance and operations for the corporation’s errors and omissions and personal umbrella insurance programs, according to Lounsbury.

Bixby joined IIABNY in 2001 as membership sales and service manager and served two years as director of E&O and product sales for the association. Previously, he was a financial advisor for American Express Financial Advisors in DeWitt. He is a licensed insurance agent, holding the New York property and casualty and life, accident, and health agent’s licenses. Bixby, who graduated from Siena College with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management, resides in Baldwinsville, with his wife and their two children.
