Indian Tandoor Restaurant in downtown Syracuse closes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Indian Tandoor Restaurant in downtown Syracuse, an eatery specializing in Indian cuisine, says it has closed permanently after more than four years in business.

A piece of paper taped to the front window of the restaurant, located at 232 Harrison St., tells customers the halal restaurant is no longer open. Inside, the building is dark and empty. It is unclear when Indian Tandoor closed because the note is not dated.

“We will be permanently closed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for loving our food and supporting us,” the note reads. “We are very thankful and grateful in having such great customers.”

Indian Tandoor makes no mention of its closing on its website or Facebook page. The eatery’s page on Yelp indicates Indian Tandoor has closed. Grubhub says the establishment is no longer taking delivery or pickup orders online.

The phone number connected to the restaurant has been disconnected and the email address listed on its Facebook page goes to a mailbox from which the messages bounce back. A message to the restaurant on Facebook has so far gone unanswered.

Indian Tandoor Restaurant, which opened in August 2013, served classic Indian food, such as kababs, kathi roles, and Biryani, along with new twists on traditional dishes, such as masala fries. The restaurant on its Facebook page said it offered quick service for lunch, but then shifted “to a full service mode for dinner.”
