SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE) has awarded the Syracuse University (SU) Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) a grant of $500,000.
SU announced the grant funding in a news release posted on its website on Monday.
IVMF recently announced the funding support and the designation of Intercontinental Exchange as an IVMF “one-star corporate partner” over the next three years, according to the SU release.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Intercontinental Exchange is a “network of regulated exchanges and clearinghouses for financial and commodity markets, including the New York Stock Exchange,” as described in the news release.
“We are extremely grateful to Intercontinental Exchange for their support as an IVMF corporate partner,” J. Michael Haynie, SU vice chancellor for veterans and military affairs and IVMF executive director and founder, said in the news release. “The partnership we have forged will strengthen our ability to provide state-of-the-art programming and resources to serve those who have served our country in uniform.”
The company’s grant will benefit the institute’s hands-on programs, activities, and projects focused on helping veterans and military families make the transition to post-service life, SU said.
The Intercontinental Exchange’s support will assist the growth of existing education and employment programming and seed development of new programs, initiatives, and publications.
The grant will help SU to “strengthen the education and resource initiatives already in place,” and help IVMF develop new ways to help veterans be “successful in their post-service lives,” SU Chancellor Kent Syverud said.
As an IVMF corporate partner, Intercontinental Exchange and the IVMF will “engage on an ongoing basis” with the institute’s experts, research fellows, and “community of collaborators” in support of firm-specific initiatives impacting veterans and family members, SU said.
“We are proud to partner with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families. This is a holistic, results-oriented program that serves the professional and personal needs of veterans and their families at the advocacy level and in the communities where they live,” Jeffrey Sprecher, ICE chairman and CEO, said in the SU news release.
