Ithaca College hosts test of new social-media platform

ITHACA — Ithaca College is now home to the beta version of Fanattac, an online social-media site that connects music fans and artists. Hollywood–based Fanattac, Inc. announced today it had closed on a $1 million private-placement financing deal.

Fanattac (pronounced fuh-nat-ik) is an online platform where fans can interact with their favorite artists. It was created with both fans and artists in mind — giving everyone from the biggest stars to the newest talents tools to communicate directly with their fans and promote their music and brand, the company contends.

“Music is no longer just a passive experience,” Fanattac CEO and co-founder Dan Faiman said in a news release. “You are engaged whether you’re in your car or on your mobile device. Technology and music are colliding and Fanattac aims to be at the center of it all. Fanattac intends to become the ultimate online destination for fans to discover and share music, promote their favorite artists, and build a social community in a way that only music can make possible.”

Fanattac will use proceeds from this deal, which follows a previously closed angel-financing round, to support the initial beta release as the business plans to expand the platform to several other college campuses in the coming months. Fanattac plans a full-scale public launch in the spring along with a mobile offering, now in development, shortly thereafter.

The beta version is currently available by invitation only. To gain access, “friend” Fanattac on Facebook, or visit www.fanattac.com to request an invite.
