ITHACA, N.Y. — The self-checkout scanners at retail stores can be a convenient way to pay for the items you want to buy and leave quickly. But you still have to pay.
New York State Police in Ithaca announced they recently arrested an Ithaca man for failing to pay for more than $500 worth of merchandise at the Target store in the village of Lansing.
Gregory V. Didominick, age 43, was charged with the misdemeanor of petit larceny on March 9, after being accused of failing to scan several “big-ticket items” while at Target’s self-checkout area and then leaving the store.
Didominick was stopped by a trooper outside the store and arrested. He was transported to the State Police station in Ithaca for processing, then released on an appearance ticket, and ordered to appear in the Town of Lansing Court on April 8.
