SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The season’s final Jazz in the City concert — that includes a focus on public health — is set for Thursday evening at Thornden Park in Syracuse from 6-9 p.m.
Syracuse Community Health and CNY Jazz present flutist, saxophonist and vocalist Paula Atherton. The 1Accord line dancers will be the opening act.
Those attending can visit the health-center tent to be screened and interviewed about their personal and family needs.
Besides the entertainment and health-care screening, the event will also include food from Johnny Gee’s BBQ and crafts vendors as well.
“Public health challenges always hit urban neighborhoods the fastest and the hardest, especially in today’s fast-changing environment,” as noted in the event’s news release.
Those attending are “encouraged to bring a reluctant family member, friend, or neighbor” for counseling or screening.
The organizations attending to answer questions include Hope Connections Recovery, a program of Catholic Charities; Molina Healthcare; ACR Health; Excellus; the New York State Department of Mental Health; Fidelis Care; YMCA, and Humana.
