SYRACUSE —  Jimmy John’s, a national franchised sandwich restaurant chain based in Champaign, Ill., has opened its third Syracuse–area eatery in the Pike Block in downtown Syracuse.

The newly opened Jimmy John’s is located on the ground floor of the Pike Block, a 130,000-square-foot, mixed-use residential and retail structure developed by VIP Development Associates, Inc. (VIPDA).

The Pike Block is undergoing a $25 million renovation to add 68 residential units on the upper floors and to create commercial space with tenants that include Jimmy John’s, CenterState CEO, Tim Hortons Café & Bake Shop, Pathfinder Bank, and other future commercial tenants, according to a VIPDA news release.

Spin the Planet Enterprises, Inc., the local franchisee, also operates a Jimmy John’s restaurant on Marshall Street on the Syracuse University campus and one near Carrier Circle in DeWitt. It will also be opening another location in Cicero in the next few weeks, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to build the Jimmy John’s brand in Syracuse. The local community has embraced and supported us from day one,” Dan Vansteenburg, CEO of Spin the Planet, said in the news release.
